Testicular Cancer: Don't Ignore Changes

Testicular Cancer is a disease that most men try to ignore and this inaction poses greater risks which may be fatal. If caught early the treatment success rate for Testicular Cancer is over 95 per cent. "IF CAUGHT EARLY". The risk group is men between 15 and 40 years old however this may extend to older men. The symptoms usually show as a swelling or a lump on the testicle, a difference in size or a severe pain in the testicles.

Self examination is necessary to avoid overlooking the early signs and the best time to do this is after a bath or a shower. Examine the shape and the smoothness of testicles and if you find any changes then consult your doctom immediately. Surgery , radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the main treatments used for men with testicular cancer.

When diagnozed with testicular cancer Chemotherapy is usually the first route taken in order to reduce the swelling however, in severe cases, the testicle may have to be removed in surgery. When diagnosed naturally you will be frightened expecially if you have let it go this far. Men need to stop "sticking their heads in the sand" when it comes to testicular concerns. Testicular cancer is relatively rare accounting for approximately 2 persent of male cancers. It has a very high success rate of treatment which also makes it unique.

If you identify a small hard lump on a testicle or a swellling in the scrotum then contact your doctor and he can asertain which kind of cancer you have. There are two kinds of testicular cancer; seminomas and non-seminoas and depending on the genre you have treatment will be selected accordingly. About half of all patients who are diagnosed may undergo radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Family history also plays a major role in the type of cancer found and a person with a father, brother or uncle diagnozed with testicular cancer are more prone to the disease.

So, remember "IF CAUGHT EARLY" this can be a very easy form of cancer to treat .... so "get your head out of the sand" and keep an eye out for the telltale signs. Examination regularly is vital and if you experience any of the above symptoms...DO SOMETHING IMMEDIATELY. Remember, the rate is greatly stacked in your favor with over 95 percent of testicular cancers being highly cured.
