Tewksbury, Massachusetts - Capellini's Has Your Cure for Italian Cuisine

In the mood for classy, yet family friendly Italian food? Look no further than Capellini's Italian Restaurant in Methuen and Tewksbury, Massachusetts. A quaint setting with adequate parking at their Methuen location, the interior is just a tad dark for this writer. But don't let the lighting fool you. An open area view to the kitchen allows you a bit of a look behind the scenes. Tables and booths are comfortably spread out throughout the restaurant, leaving plenty of room for quiet conversation while enjoying lunch or dinner. And needless to say, the menu more than overcomes the lighting problems.

When you're first seated, you're greeted with homemade thin-sliced scali bread with seasoned olive oil sauce to tempt the palate. A full beverage menu both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is available. From there it's on to the appetizers. The choices range from basics of garlic bread ($3.25) to an entire sampler of toasted ravioli, fried mozzarella, chicken fingers and bruschetta for $8.95. A variety of salads can be seasoned with either grilled marinated chicken or shrimp (var. prices depending on lunch or dinner menu) or you can go for the Antipasto salad, consisting of lettuce, italian cold cuts, cheeses, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and pepperoncini with a choice of dressings

Onto the main courses, ranging from pasta classics to chicken, veal and seafood selections. While all of the options were tempting, I opted for Shrimp Capellini on a few of my visits to the restaurant. Perfectly sauteed shrimp with a healthy dose of plum tomatoes, artichoke hearts, black olives and mushrooms blanket a perfectly portioned plate of angel hair pasta with a garlic and white wine sauce.

If the room remains, a delicious desert menu awaits. From the common Cheesecake ($4.95) to the italian favorite of Tiramisu ($5.25), there is something for everyone. Every time I've been to Capellini's - there's been a comfortable mix of young and old, families and friends. The help has always been more than capable, and very knowledgeable of the menu - including the specials, which are plentiful.
