Texas Chainsaw Musical

This Video Isn't a Massacre

Want to see a really scary movie? How about a really funny one? How about one that spoofs other movies in the style of the Scary Movie franchise? Well tough luck, but there is a little known fake trailer out there for a movie called 'Texas Chainsaw Musical' and it can be found on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stF2ddDSM4k. If you like music, and you like dance and you love horror films, check it out. You can also find it on MTV here, http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/151109/texas-chainsaw-musical.jhtml.

A Little History of the Video. When I came across this video several years as a nominee for the 2007 MTV Move Awards, I knew I came across something really unique. It soon disappeared from MTV's website and I recently found it online. The video has racked up nearly 23,000 views and 137 likes on YouTube.

What is it about? Think 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' meets "High School Musical" with a hint of "Rocky Horror Picture Show". It is very professional looking and you'd think 'get ready to watch this in theatres', but it never will. The dance numbers look very entertaining and it's certainly campy enough to keep my attention through the whole 4:36 second video. The description that YouTube gives the video is Pleatherface discovers a twitchy twinkle in his eye for musicals and learns life's more than just a massacre. Pleatherface starts to wonder what if life was more about killing people and massacre. You'll see Pleatherface as an astronaut, a babysitter and a golfer, yep you read that correctly. And did I mention there's a piano solo too?

Fanbase and Reaction. Sadly, it didn't win the MTV Movie Awards, but has generally gotten good remarks on YouTube with over 60 people commenting. For a wider array of comments you can go online and look. By simply Googling the title I found 3 more blogs with good comments for the show.

So, it's not ever going to be a movie by no means, but if you are bored and up for a little campy entertainment, go and find it on YouTube and have yourself a good laugh. And if you should like, share the link with a friend because perhaps there is more to life than "stop slapping people around with his big dirty saw and making mask's from their heinys". But be warned, I told you it was campy.
