Texas Hold'em: I Hate This Game (not Really)!

What can I say about this game... Well, I have been playing card games for as long as I can remember, but specifically I have been playing Poker (Texas Hold'em) for about 3 years now and I have yet to figure this one out. Every other game I play I usually get the hang of it right away and sometimes I can even MASTER the game, but in this case it is a futile attempt on my part to try and master the game. On face value this game looks like it could be very simple... All you have to do is make the best 5 card hand (or bluff like you do) and you should win and win a lot, but this just isn't the case. There are so many different styles of play that I believe the game is more luck than skill (80% luck, 10% skill and 10% courage).

What I like about this game is the fact that you can have the ABSOLUTE WORST HAND and if you are brave enough you can turn those turds into a winning hand, but there is ALWAYS the possibility that someone will smell the dirtiness of your hand and will call you out usually resulting in you either acting completely stupid and going all in with your turds or you'll end up losing a HUGE chunk of your chip stack for trying to steal the pot.

In the end, you never know what you'll get dealt and the best strat is always to just pay the cards you are dealt and never try to "Play the player" unless you are EXTREMELY familiar with the people you are playing with and know for a fact that you can screw with their minds to win!
