The Texas vs. Oklahoma 2009 football game is already underway. This 2009 Texas vs. Oklahoma football game could be putting the season on the line for both of the teams, and the game has already started out with a lot of excitement. Early on Oklahoma has been having their way with the Texas Longhorns on defense, and mid-way through the second quarter made a statement with sack on Colt McCoy that cost Texas 17 yards. The Texas defense hasn't been playing bad either, and in fact has knocked Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford out of the game already.

The Oklahoma Sooners were the first to put some points on the board after driving down for a very early field goal to give them a 3-0 lead over Texas. They tacked on another field goal to push the score to 6-0, and had a third chance, but their kicker missed a 40+ yard field goal. The score stayed at 6-0 heading into the 10 minute mark of the second quarter, and it was really starting to look like the defenses were going to completely control this game for its duration. The problem for Oklahoma is that they are not playing with their back-up quarterback, which could cause problems later on in the game.

The key to this game is going to be field position, and as the second quarter progresses, the third ranked Texas Longhorns look like they could be very good at controlling the ball enough to catch up with a score later on. For Oklahoma, it is going to be tougher playing with a back-up quarterback against the extremely talented Texas Longhorns defense, and if they have too many three and outs on offense, it is really going to cost them in field position. This game won't be decided until the fourth quarter, but it definitely looks like it is going to be an exciting ride until the very end.

Many of the experts think that this is a make or break game for both teams, and that a loss to either will cost them the major bowl bid they crave at the end of the season. For Texas they are playing for a national championship right now, and are undefeated through the 2009 college football season so far. Oklahoma needs some help, having dropped down to #20 with two losses and an injury to Sam Bradford. If they can win this game, and then get some help in some of the other college football games in the second half of the season, they could still get a back door entry into the 2009 college football national championship.
