Texas State Fair 2007 - Tips for Discounted Admission

Enjoying the Texas State Fair for a Fraction of the Cost

Each year the Texas State Fair rolls out its carpet and opens its gates to the public. The general admission price for fair entrance is $14.00 per adult, $10.00 per Senior Citizen, and $10.00 for children under 48" tall and over two years of age. Advance ticket purchases can be made for a marginal discount and season passes are available for multiple entries. Despite those available and advertised discounts, the cost of parking, entrance, and food inside the fair can add up quickly. A fun day at the fair watching pig races, eating fried foods, and checking out the newly added Texas Skyway can put a dent in the wallet. So, if you are anything like me, you are looking for a bargain.

For those hoping to catch the fair on September 28th, 2007, opening day, bring along a full 20oz bottle of Coke product to donate to a North Texas Food Bank Container and admission is only $4.00.

A McDonald's 2007 Texas State Fair coupon, presented on any day of the week, will give you a $3.00 discount. Keep in mind that each $3.00 off general admission McDonald's ticket allows you to bring one child, less than 48" tall, in for free.

If you are less concerned about catching the fair during peak periods and have the opportunity to see the attractions mid-week your savings increase. Every Tuesday is "Dr. Pepper Tuesday." An empty Dr. Pepper can will allow you to enter the fair for $3.00. Wednesday Kroger sponsors a "3 for a $1.00" day and sets admission price at a $1.00 for every three cans of food donated to help restock the area food banks.

Thursdays offer you three choices for discounted Texas State Fair access. First, seniors aged 60 and over, automatically gain admission for free. Secondly, people who are willing to part with an empty 20 oz bottle of coke can enter for $4.00, and thirdly if you happen to have a Cinemark ticket stub to present, you can enjoy free admission regardless of age.

Visiting the Texas State Fair is an important part of our family fall kick-off. Gaining State Fair entrance through discounted admission means that there is just that much more available to spend on fried foods and fair rides.

See you at the fair!

Good article. My mom and aunt are seniors and they have been to the fair every Thursday so far. They both turned 65 this year and just love the fact that they can get in free.
