Texas Tech Trainer Steve Pincock Says Adam James is a Liar

Texas Tech Trainer Steve Pincock is Contradicting the Story that Adam James Said About Coach Mike Leach

Texas Tech trainer Steve Pincock is basically calling Adam James a liar. Steve Pincock is the Texas Tech athletic trainer, and he refutes Adam James and how James said he was treated after he suffered from a concussion on December 16th this month. In an interview with ESPN, Pincock stated that in both instances where Pincock had stated he was required to stay in closets that it just wasn't true, and that the smallest location where he stayed was a prep room as large as a two-car garage. This sheds some new light on the situation that caused Texas Tech to fire Mike Leach, and could go a long way towards saving the career of Leach.

After Adam James showed up in street clothes without team gear and in dark sunglasses to a team practice, Pincock said that Leach asked that James be moved to a location where "sunlight could not bother him as he was wearing sunglasses." Pincock then stated the following to ESPN, "I instructed Adam to stay in the garage and out of the sun, so the light would not worsen his condition. While in the garage, Adam was walking around, eating ice, sitting on the ground, and, at one point, sleeping; at no point was there any enforcement to make Adam stand up."

Two days after the first incident, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders practiced at Jones AT&T Stadium, James was placed in a room used for postgame interviews according to Pincock. Now it's really starting to sound like James was adding details to his story that just didn't happen, and if you begin to believe Pincock, it's hard not to also start siding with former coach Mike Leach. Pincock wrote to ESPN that"Iwalked Adam to the room, which was at least as big as a two-car garage. Inside the room there is an electrical closet. I looked in the closet and stated that there was 'no way that Adam would be placed in there.' I shut the door to the electrical closet, and it was never opened again. At no time during this practice was Adam ever placed in the electrical closet."

Adam James had stated that he was forced to be in a closet where he was not allowed to sit and confined there for three hours. He had stated that Leach told the trainer to "put him in the darkest, tightest spot" and that when he was in the closet that a guard was posted outside. Leach had long denied the story coming from James, and now the Texas Tech athletic trainer seems to agree with every version of Leach's chain of events. It's shocking that the trainer has taken the side of the already-fired Mike Leach, but it could also speak volumes about the truth in the statements that Adam James has made. Who do you believe now? The player Adam James? Or athletic trainer Steve Pincock?

    Good point, CJ!

One would ask why they would treat him that way anyway. He was a grown man he did not have to stay in a closet even if he had been placed there.
