Texas Tornadoes - a Poem About Soccer

I Will Never Forget You

Lisa Mason
Dedicated to Tornadoes Youth Soccer, Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Spring 2010: 9-11. You guys rock! I'd be honored to coach you any day.

Determination

To see it through to the end, rain or shine

Eyes focused, eyebrows narrowed

Calves flexing in anticipation of the ball coming your way

Teamwork

Binding us together as one big family

Though we fight and bicker, we leave it off the field

And come together a team under the Texas sky

Passion

For the game that shines on each of your faces

As you learn a new play or a new move, mastering technique

Which reminds me why I coach every day

Respect

For the game, for one another

And of course, for yourselves

Win or lose, we can hold our heads high

Push hard, play fair, never give up

These are the makings of a solid soccer player

We shared blood, sweat and tears

Bruises and hugs, skinned knees and muddy faces, lots of love

You will forever live on in my memories

And my life is better for having met you, coached you and played with you

Go Tornadoes!

Coaching can be a real passion, especially when you see how the players learn such important life skills - teamwork, healthy exercise and building friendships.
