Chat rooms and text messaging have become the most popular for of communication. Being an impatient society, looking for shortcuts in everything we do, we have practically developed a new language. In order to text faster, a new structure of "abbreviations" has been developed.

Have you ever wondered what your child or spouse was texting or typing into their cell phones and chat boxes, but couldn't understand it? Well, as a parent, I think there are a few things every parent should know. These abbreviations are one of those things.

121 - one-to-one or an invitation to chat privately

143 - I love you

420 - lets get high

420 - "Marijuana"

555 - sobbing, crying

55555 - Crying your eyes out
9 - parent is watching
A3 - anytime, anywhere, anyplace+

AFK - away from keys
AITR - adult in the room

AML - all my love

AOYP - angel on your pillow

ASAP - as soon as possible

ASL - age-sex-location

ASLA - age-sex-location-availability

ATEOTD - at the end of the day

ATSITS - all the stars in the sky

AYOR - at your own risk

AYSOS - are you stupid or something?

AYV - are you vertical?

B8 - bait, an under-aged person

BF - boyfriend, best friend

B/G - background, a request for personal information

BBC - big bad challenge

BGWM - be gentle with me

BIB - boss is back

BIBO - beer in, beer out

BYOB - bring your own beer

CD9 - Code 9, parents are around

CID - crying in disgrace

CLAB - crying like a baby

CMAP - cover my a** partner

CRBT - crying really big tears

CTC - care to chat?

CYE - check your e-mail

DIKU - do I know you?

DWF -divorced white female

DWM - divorced white male

E - ecstasy

EBKAC - error between keyboard and chair

ES -erase screen

F - female

    I am very pleased to get this. I have been trying to figure out the messages on my husband's fone. I really think he is up to no good, but I can't prove it.
