Texting While Driving is Dangerous

Using Your Phone in Any Way While Driving Can Kill People

Julia Wagner
Everyone knows that driving while intoxicated kills people. And most people are aware of people in recent years distracted on the road while talking on their cell phones. But the most recent danger on the roads is texting while driving. Text-messaging has become the most popular way of communicating today, especially among teens. Teens are already the least experiences drivers on the road, and now they have another distraction to add to the list. There is no reason to text while driving. If it is really an emergency, then pull over to a safe area and make your call or text there.

Another feature of today's most advanced phones is internet connections straight to your phone. This is especially scary. Now not only can people text, but they can potentially access their email accounts, surf the web, or look up directions from their car. This is stupid and dangerous. Pull over if you really need to do that important google search. Drivers need to stay focused and never take their eyes off the road.

Car accidents are a serious and real occurrence. People die every day in this country because of careless drivers. It could be yourself or your best friend that you kill in an accident. Or your neighbor down the street, a single mother. A car full of children that are unnecessarily taken because of your carelessness. Whether it is getting a good night's sleep, avoiding alcohol, or putting down your phone, please do what is best for the safety of yourself and others on the road.
