Mary Gindling
This is a super simple scarf that makes you look like a knitting wizard. It's made with a textured yarn on large knitting needles so you can complete it in only a few hours. This is a fun, easy to make scarf and you'll want to make several for yourself or to give to friends.

Materials:

2 4-ounce skeins Red Heart Bright & Lofty (3 skeins will make two scarves)
Knitting needles Size 13
Crochet hook Size J
Yarn needle

Finished Size: 8 inches wide by 50 inches long, not counting fringe.

Gauge: 5 st + 2 inches; 5 rows + 2 inches

Abbreviations:

K = Knit
P = Purl
Sl = slip stitch

Note: To slip a stitch knitwise, insert the right-hand needle into the next stitch as if to purl, then slip the stitch from the right hand needle to the left without knitting the stitch.

Body of Scarf: Cast on 18 sts

Row 1: P Across
Row 2: (K 1, sl 1 knitwise) across
Row 3: P across
Row 4: Sl 1 knit, K1) across
Row 5: P Across

Repeat rows 2 through 5 until piece measures 50 inches long or to length desired, ending with purl row. Bind off. Using yarn needle, weave in any loose ends.

Fringe: Cut 36 12" lengths of yarn. Fold each strand in half and use crochet hook to knot 18 fringes at each end of scarf. Trim ends of fringe if necessary.
