Since that time, I have eaten at many Thai places, but I will have to say that for Thai cuisine, that Thai Lotus in Lawrenceville, Georgia is my absolute favorite. I have tried everything on their menu and keep coming back to enjoy more. Thai Lotus offers the best basil rice and Pad Thad around. The noodles are never overcooked and the spice is always just right, however, if you want them to kick it up a notch they will accommodate you and you won't be disappointed.
Thai Lotus offers wonderful appetizers that include Thai rolls made with rice paper and fresh vegetables and spring rolls with shrimp. One of the best soups that they offer is the Coconut Chicken soup and let me tell you, you will be in heaven! The soups base consist of coconut and tomatoes seasoned with basil and it has the perfect combination of chicken and mushrooms. I am telling you, it's that good!
One of my other favorites at Thai Lotus is the Duck and the Catfish dish. For those of you that have never had Duck, you will be impressed with the preparation of this moist, well seasoned Duck. It will leave you manner-less and licking your fingers. The catfish is spicy and served on a bed of steamed rice with peppers and onions. The first time I tried this dish, it was so good that I ordered it at least once a week for over a month.
When you enter the Thai Lotus restaurant you will feel like you've just stepped into Thailand. The décor is traditional and the dining area boast wood paneling with lovely artwork and accessories. It is a comfortable environment that has an air of elegance to it, but managers to feel welcoming and intimate. The food is not the only thing that will keep you coming back; they have DJ nights where after dinner you can enjoy some great top 40 music and karaoke.
The owner informed me recently that they will have lots of great events coming up starting, February 6th, 2010, where they will be open for live music from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. every Saturday night. So you music lovers, mark your calendars now! The Thai Lotus is located at 4825 Sugarloaf Parkway Ste, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30044 right in the heart of Gwinnett County. Give them a call today to make reservations at 770-237-5800 or stop by and see how great the food and environment is for yourself.
Bottom-line: Great food, Great Location and Great Fun right in Gwinnett County. Price point: $3.00 to $20.00 for Lunch and Dinner. Family and Event Friendly.
