Thai Villlage Life; Life in a Thai Village is Something that All Tourists Should Experience

If you plan a visit to Thailand then you really should make the effort to visit a Thai village. Here you will see a far different side of the country, and get to experience something that most tourists completely miss out on. Thai attractions are many, and for most people their time in the country is too short, but a trip to experience Thai village life will be an experience that you are unlikely to forget.

Life in a rural Thailand moves at a completely different pace than the cities and tourist areas. There are far fewer tourists so the locals really make a fuss over visitors. Thai traditions differ in these rural locations than in the more sophisticated cities, it can really feel like you have stepped back in time. In many areas they focus on rice farming and still do all the work by hand. The people of Thailand love a bit of fun, and the arrival of a visitor into their Thai village life will likely be enough to get a party going - especially if you are paying.

I was lucky enough to live in a rural location for almost four years and fell in love with Thai village life; I would have considered myself a city person prior to this but the simple life grew on me. I still regularly return to rural Thailand and as soon as I'm out of the car my mind starts to slow down. After a day or two my body even feels lighter.

If you do intend to visit a rural location in Thailand then it is probably best that you go along with a Thai person. It is perfectly safe to do so on your own, but there are usually far fewer English speakers in these locations. I was always having the locals bringing lost fellow westerners to me so that I could act as a translator when I lived in the village. On a side note, if you manage to pick up a few Thai phrases and use them with the locals they will really appreciate you for it.

Most people who come to Thailand just prefer to chill out by the beach or stay in the bars. It is their holiday and it is understandable that they just want to unwind. Still, a trip to a rural location will be something a bit different and a fine memory to take home.
