I don't normally write about people, the famous ones or even the passing. But how could I ever ignore the urge of recollecting thoughts of my country's so peopled history at this point of time. There were those that already became souls I pity and some I wished to remain human forever. Well, true, everyone is destined to go. And her death, I would like to proclaim legendary for she had lived with the choicest way of life resulting millions of Filipinos harmoniously weeping today. I am at nowhere when the EDSA revolution broke out and definitely have nil memory of what happened or how it was back then but my life now makes me feel something about the demise of this simple mother. Long time ago, little did anyone foresee the potential power of her role as a widow, yet she was not only president but an "Icon of Philippine Democracy". Some people even tamed her illusion of putting Marcos down. They assumed that she proceeded on faith alone believing to pursue the most impossible mission with serene confidence. With appreciation, she's certainly a woman of substance in the side of God.

It was August first of the year 2009 when her death surfaced and tributes for her were so devastating that almost made me teary-eyed the whole day. I can't join the crowd of millions to pay last respect to the First Lady-President of Philippines, Maria Corazon "Cory" Aquino but this I know for sure the late president was instrumental in restoring the peace and democracy in the country and by means a memory to carry in my heart forever. I've also always admired her (late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino) husband's mission and goodness that I could honestly say that they are both an epitome of a true Filipino.

I have had a simple thought about Aquino's family most importantly about her Excellency. It so happened that my Papa was once among the selected bodyguards to Butch, Ninoy's brother. Astounded by the yellow association to Cory, I asked my Papa about it. And he told me that it was Cory's charm for the youth to draw inspiration from her life of values and virtues as they continue to let live freedom in the country. And he quoted Cory's love of painting landscapes as sunny as she look.

Once I watched her magic working on the mammoth Filipino crowd as she stood there full of life for the good of her countrymen. Today, it's her magic again uniting massive Filipino crowd to walk in prayers though it was her death that really awakened everyone. And yes, which magic shall live forever along with the yellow ribbons associated to her.

"I tell them I don't have any formula for ousting a dictator or building democracy, All I can suggest is to forget about yourself and just think of your people. It's always the people who make things happen. Provided, of course, they have a leader who can touch their hearts. "

-says the former housewife who managed to do both.
