Herb and Jackie Are Outstanding Business Owners Who Truly Know Antiques and Collectables
Brookville, OH 45309
United States of America
All of us have favorite stories of shops that are our favorite places from childhood through adulthood. My favorites have always been antiques and collectables such as family related items that bring back heart warming memories. Honestly, I had looked for over 10 years for certain items throughout Ohio but could not find items that were related to my fondest family memories. My memories that connect my hobby of antiques and collectables are grandparents and parents occupations, my childhood memories of toyes, the sweet little shops in South Park in Dayton, Ohio, and special gift collectables that meant so much but got lost or broken throughout the years.
Well, good news! I moved to Brookville, Ohio and found the heart warming shop H & J Antques and Collectables owned by Herb and Jackie Wells at 219 Market St. in my new home town of Brookville, Ohio. What a glorious feeling I had in my heart as I walked through their front door being greeted by them as though they had known me all my life. I knew this was a new beginning for me as a collector and storyteller for never again would I have to only have the shops of my childhood as fond memories; now I have one right in front of me as an adult and in my own home town.
Herb and Jackie were so welcoming and listened so intently as I rambled on and on about being the sole survivor of my immediate birth family whose collectables and antiques were given away. I was searching for all those precious items I recalled from my childhood that I thought were never to be found. Well, I found them at H & J Antiques and Collectibles not just on my first visit to their terrific business but each and everytime I visit them. They have old, new, rare items, unusual hard to find items that include coke products, old time coins, jewelry, knickknacks, furniture, childhood books, housewares, you name it they have it or they will help you find it. They are so neighborly and gracious.
Today, when I visited H & J and told Herb and Jackie Wells what I was searching for, as usual, they had exactly what I wanted 1) Delco Moraine Dedication Plate and pen and pencil set from where my birth father Louis had worked his entire adult life until retired. Dad passed away in 1973. I thought for sure nobody would have anything from Delco Moraine. It was just like the time before when I visited their antiques collectiables shop-they always have something that I recall from my childhood, teens years, and early adulthood that my ancestors had and now at 64 years old I have them. Handing down these precious antiques anc collectable to my children and grandchildren means so much to me.grandchildren.
Collecting antiques and collectables is a wonderful way to honor our ancestors. For example, one of the times I visited their shop I was looking for Blue Bird Bakery collectable pie pans and of course they had them at H & J's. . Blue Bird Bakery was where my Mother-in-Law Dorothy had worked all her life, my children were so happy to know that I found them. I also have been able to find old time sewing needs at this family owned shop such as the needles, tins, and other collectables that my Great Grandmother and Grandparents used in their tailor shop right here in Brookville on Market Stree where my ancestors had their tailor shop in the 1930's-right down the street from where H & J is now.
Thank you so very much Herb and Jackie Wells for your outstanding friendliness and your keepsakes of antiques and collectables shop in Brookville, Ohio Hey readers please stop by and visit them at 219 Market Street here in Brookville, Ohio and their phone number is 937-833-3300. Happy collecting!

Post a CommentI enjoy "looking" in antique stores! Always fun to find an item from childhood-one was an Easter bunny like we had when children! Nice story!
