Thank You for Helping My Haiti

Nicole Weaver
I will continue to remain thankful towards all the people that went out of their way to help the Haitian people. It was certainly heart wrenching watching the devastation on CNN . As sad as this was, it was so comforting knowing that people were so very compassionate.

In my school district where I teach, students, parents, teachers raised thousands of dollars for Haiti relief efforts. Their generosity left me speechless.

In my local newspaper I read about two families that adopted Haitian children that became orphaned after the earthquake. This in my opinion , is the ultimate sacrifice, bringing into your home a total stranger that you are willing to raise as your own.

Tears flooded my face like the river seine upon hearing what a group of students from my daughter's university did. Along with my daughter , twelve students from Pepperdine University who were spending the semester in Lausanne Switzerland raised 2,000 dollars in one day for Haiti relief. I so appreciated what these students did. At such a young age, they showed a tremendous amount of compassion and understanding.

My daughter arrived home from her stay in Lausanne with the best gift ever. She bought me a t-shirt from Prague that reads: Help Haiti Prague 2010. I wear this t-shirt with much pride, knowing deep in my heart the world is helping my native homeland recover from the most devastating earthquake to ever hit Haiti.

To all the world: Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
