Thankful for My Freedom and so Much More

Diamondgirlz59
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, my thoughts once again stir about the past things I am very thankful for.

Without my freedom in this Country I live in, I might not be able to venture out and worship the God I believe in so freely. I may not be able to write articles such as this and speak out what I see as truth!

Yes, sometimes as Americans, we feel our rights become less as the Government embarks more of its control. Yet, we still have the freedom to speak out against these controls and usually without the persecution that one may get in other countries.

Sometimes I hear so many complain and I want to put them on a plane and hope to never see them again. Maybe a good/bad taste of living in a less fortunate Country will open their eyes?

I never have lived or even visited a Country such as this, but I can almost imagine what one might suffer. The disease, sickness, hunger, inadequate water supply, desolation, slavery, and bondage.

Do we as Americans even begin to realize what true poverty or hunger really is? Yes, there are some that really truly may know it and live it here in our free Country.

If America was so bad, then why do so many people try to come here from other countries?

Freedom for me is not just a word, it is a lifestyle that I was raised with and I would panic if it was taken away from me!

It does sadden my heart that so many men and women have went to battle for our country and died. We really need to be thankful for them, for they have protected something very precious to us and if it wasn't for them, where would we be?

What is worse though, is the ones who are sent into a war that is not even our battle and it is only for what cause? Yes, when they signed up for the military, they knew the risk of being sent somewhere may eventually occur. However, I think that many of them have regretfully stated, "I did not sign up for this!"

When I see young children at school with such utter disrespect. I wonder why they are not so appreciative of their own liberty or freedoms in our blessed country?

The sad part of that is, one day they will wake up and find out they should have done it differently, especially when all the state aid is gone and they don't have the skills they need to fend for themselves!

The day for our vanishing state aid is arriving quicker than anyone can imagine. Along with Social Security. Everyone needs to wake up and get their head out of the sand!! Schools are already shutting down and programs are going broke. People can't pay their mortgages so foreclosures are imminent.

Did this happen overnight? No, past predictions were made public, but people still wouldn't listen! Just like the global warming and the water shortages, they are here and people were warned.

The upside of this downside is, we are still Americans and we have the ability to create and make things happen! We can PRAY, we can create, we can give of ourselves into our communities and show once again where our deep love and passions lie!

We can bring about a country we can once again be proud of! It isn't just about being selfish and all powerful! We need to first be thankful for our power to think and remember what the vision of our forefathers once was! "The American Dream". We are alive and as long as we have breath and can still think, we can go forth, make plans and restructure our lives.

It is important to be thankful for what we have. In America we have many freedoms we often take for granted. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed your article.

Mrs. Martin, hello, thanks for looking at my writeup. I also am thankful for my freedom and for the soldiers who fought to protect it during World War II. I just don't think any freedoms were protected in Korea, Vietnam or now Iraq, and from what you are saying, I don't believe that you think so either. Can't help it, I'm just down on our nation right now because it could be so much more. The first decent president we get will seem like a superhero, because the past few have been so off base. Peace be with you. -- Mike .... P.S., You see that comment from Sussy below, that's a real tribute because Sussy was AC's Number One featured content yesterday with a story about celebrity diets. She's still on AC's front page.

Very timely and well-written article, Cynthia -- and good for any time of the year.
