Thanks, Bill Belichick

The National Football League Week 10 matchup between the 8-0 unbeaten Colts and the 6-2 Patriots will be remembered forever because of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick's decision to go for it on 4th and 2 at the Patriots 28 while leading 34-28 and two minutes to go in the game. By now you know they didn't get it and lost the game. I am not going to talk about that decision. Let's talk instead about the guy under center for the Colts.

Peyton Freakin' Manning. Hey, this guy was undefeated coming in. He would have gone 90 yards to score the winning TD. That's what Manning does. Win games. He was at the top of the lists for completions, attempts, yards, and touchdowns. All while giving up the fewest sacks and with the worst rushing attack behind him. Although he does receive a huge boost from his NFL leading best defense only giving up 16 points a game. 8-0 became 9-0 purely by way of Peyton Manning.

Manning overcame a 2 interception night going 28-44 passing with 4 TD's and 327 yards. The Patriots had built a 17 point lead going in the 4th quarter. Manning overcame all and threw the game winning touchdown from the 1 with 13 seconds to go. He only needed one other completion of 14 yards on the short 28 yard drive. Joseph Addai added 13 yards to the 1 yard line.

I believe Peyton Manning would have went 99 yards if needed to get the win. He will probably end up as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. (This coming from a lifelong Favre fan...) The man just wins. Gets it done. Finishes.

He can chop up and dissect a defense both on the field and in his head. The smartest football guy on the field no matter who else is playing. He takes what you give him and hurts you when you make a mistake. If you give Peyton Manning a chance to win the game late he is almost going to take advantage of your kindness. Thank you Bill Belichick, but Manning didn't need your hospitality.

***As of this writing Manning has extended his winning streak to 10-0 with a win close win over the Ravens. ***
