Thanks Internet! a Guide to RELIVING Great Sports Moments Online

Because Once Isn't Enough when Infinity is Involved

Matt Schirano
Are you one of those sports fans that loves sports so much that random sports moments pops in your head and you think about how awesome it was that you witnessed it (on TV, or even better in person)?

If you answered yes then this guide is very simple:

Step One: Go to YouTube.com

Step Two: Remember all those awesome sports moments and search for them

If you haven't been the most devout sports fan and now want to partake in its glory (yes I'm going to make it like that) than I guess I can give you a more detailed guide to checking out some of the cooler Sports stuff online.

Try and stump yourself

Sports are almost a cultural universal. They might not be but "almost" is a good catch-all. Try and think about something you might not even consider a sport! Table tennis is an Olympic sport. Here's the 2008 final, it's even condensed so the pace is even more exhilarating! The World Bartending Championship is always good. It seems unpractical to me, but that's because I typically order a Yuengling, it's a simple concoction. Lastly, try getting really bizarre. Squirrels are good for more than picking up stray acorns. More on squirrels later.

Here's some practice for you, try and find an interesting link regarding the following sports: World Ice Art Championship, World Paintball Championship, Jousting Championship

Sport + World Championship(s) = Win

If you noticed, I have a consistent theme in World Championships. It's a good way of getting a taste of good competition for that sport. Remember to think random. Animals have competitions, squirrels can ski. Once we cross those bounds a championship is an inevitability.

Get eXtreme!!!

eXtreme sports are great for good moments because it's eXtreme and everything is a great moment! This bouldering video is pretty intense, leaping from hold to hold. There's Winter and Summer X Games, that can give you a good entry point into the diversity that can be found under the umbrella term "Fantasy Sports".

As for the big 5...

Type in (one of) basketball, baseball, football, hockey, and soccer. After that choose one of the following: best, greatest, biggest. Then choose one from this list: plays, moments. This is a sure-fire way to land some good videos. The secret is that these sports are mainstream, and have been established professionally for a long time. The worlds best competition has been meeting for so long that the media has recorded it for generations.
Remember to check out the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, and Stanley Cup; those have great moments you'll want to see.

Pay Attention

When you're looking at these awesome moments in sports history, pay special attention to the people involved. The greatest players tend to collect many great sports moments, and a search of them can often reveal even more displays of athletic glory.

Just because I'm nice I'll get you started with some names. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Ozzie Smith, Roberto Clemente, Ken Griffey Jr, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Alexander Mogilny, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Allen Iverson.

And don't forget to check out the AND1 mix tapes. I'll save that search for you too, as a gift.
