Thanks for the Ride

RANDY DEABAY
In the quiet, the answer comes like a freight train driving by

Nothing can be done to change the past, even if I try

The shock at the reality is one that cuts so very deep

The sword that has found its way, and the blood does weep

A disappointment deeper than an opening in the ice of an arctic circle

The life taken away, and the flow of oxygen gone, shall make me purple

For all that I believed has been set to the abandoned far side

I never realized that this was just some type of fantasy ride

In the quiet of the shadows, no stars are shining, is where I cried

In the depth of my heart, where happiness hides, I could not find

Of the ability to believe, to conquer and live, all now hidden from my mind

The happiness just wanted, to be able to share, is all that I truly tried

Sometimes, instead of trying, it may be easier to just say, thank you for the ride.
