Thanksgiving or Christmas Cranberry Applesauce

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
Peel and slice apples, you will want to put them in salt water so they don't turn brown. When ready to use them, drain off the water and put in kettle. Cook on a high flame stirring once in awhile so the apples don't stick to the kettle. Keep cooking until apples are soft and can be mashed with a potato masher and sugar and cinnamon to taste and set aside.

Now you will want to make your cranberries. Make them as directed on the back of the bag. Then pour the cranberries into your blender and put a pot holder over the cover so you won't burn yourself, and hold the cover down, as there is pretty much pressure when the cranberries are hot. Set on puree, and puree until they are just about liquefied. Then mix the applesauce and the cranberries together.

This recipe can be made sugar free as well.

Pour into containers and freeze or put them in jars with lids and rims and process in a hot water bath for 25 to 30 minutes.

Mary Lynn, you have so many wonderful recipes. You should do a series in which you put them together as a complete meal for the lazy or culinary inept.

Hi Norman, nothing wrong with calling it Chanukah Cranberry Applesauce, I just threw in Christmas and Thanksgiving for more of a draw towards recipes during the holidays. Guess I should have put down for the holidays. Thank you for your comment, let me know how everyone likes it. Hugs Mary
