The Oregon Food Bank is always in need of food to help the needy. They take non perishable food donations. Canned good are very welcome.
2) Thanksgiving Day Give And Gobble
This event is a 5k run/walk and a 10K run. This event raises money for Helping Hands which is a local food bank. This is a volunteer event that helps thousands of area hungry. For more information please visit their website above.
3) Oregon Lawyers Against Hunger
The goal this year is to raise a million dollars for the Oregon Food Bank to feed the hungry. Visit their website to see how you can help.
4) The Goodwill
The Goodwill welcomes clothing donations.
The Salvation Army welcomes all donations.
6) The ARC
This is a wonderful organization that will pick up your clothing donations if you need them too.
This wonderful nonprofit organization works with low income families and they are happy to take any clothing donations.
This nonprofit helps low income and the homeless find jobs. They welcome donations of business clothes.
Enjoy the "Under The Big Top" food drive. This is a huge event that costs $125.00 per person. This is a huge gourmet dinner with cocktails to benefit the Oregon Food Bank. 10) Oregon Food Bank Drop Off Sites
Here is a list of drop off sites for the Oregon Food Bank. They are in desperate need of canned good for the upcoming holiday season.
This is just a small sample of the charities that you can help over the holidays. Be sure to watch your local news for more events in the area. Most of the supermarkets will place large boxes for toys right before Christmas and many firehouses around the Portland area will collect toys for toy drives. Give your local fire house a call and see what they are planning for this years event.
