Thanksgiving Clothing Drives in Houston, Texas for 2009

In a city as large as Houston, Texas there is always a need for clothing donations to help others. This need is all year long but is very apparent when our weather finally turns colder. Many people want to help others who are less fortunate than them at Thanksgiving but are not sure how to help. Below you will find some wonderful organizations where you have the opportunity to help others who may not be as blessed as we are.

Parkgate Community Church located in Pasadena, Texas is having their KIX Thanksgiving Drive from October 25^th through November 24^th. They are in need of new or gently used women's and children's clothing to help needy families. Waste Management one of the sponsors of the annual Houston Super feast is having their annual clothing drive starting November 12^th through November 24^th. They will have donation boxes located at their main office at 1001 Fannin, Houston, Texas open during weekly business hours. When you enter the building there will be signs directing you to the donation boxes. If you have any further questions they may be contacted at 713-512-6200.

Neighborhood Center-Head Start/Early Start has a Thanksgiving "Adopt a Family" program where you are able to read life stories submitted by needy families and adopt one or more for a personalized toy, food, or clothing drive. You can choose to deliver your donations to your adopted family your self or have them delivered by family service workers. Boysandgirlscountry.org is a Christian based organization established in 1971 which provides assistance to children and families in crisis. They provide them with a place to live and the essentials to help them prepare to face life successfully. Listed on their website is a donation section that lists the clothing closet needs. You are able to donate all year long to this association not only during the holiday season.

Purpleheart.org is a wonderful organization whose goal is to assist all military veterans and the veterans do not have to be a member of Purple heart to receive assistance. My family and I donate clothing to this wonderful organization whenever we are able. And the great thing is they take donations year round not only at Thanksgiving. On their website you will see they have a link for numbers to call for all states to make a donation not just Texas. If you choose to you they will send a truck by your home and pick up your box of donations as my family does.
