Jenn C.
Here you will find 3 great inexpensive and easy thanksgiving craft ideas on making turkeys from materials such as pinecones, styrofoam and miniature bowling pins. My thanksgiving crafts are ideal for ages 5 and older. Adult supervision is needed.

Turkey Thanksgiving Crafts #1

Supplies Needed:
4" wood bowling pin can be located on eBay
Turkey feathers different bright colors
Googly Eyes small
Red and yellow felt sheets
Medium brown acrylic paint
Aleene's Craft Glue
small black buttons

This thanksgiving craft idea is making a turkey out of a wooden bowling pin. This project is easy to do. First have your child paint the bowling pin with medium brown acrylic paint. Once the pin is covered completely with the acrylic paint put on paper plate to dry. Allow to dry for about 1 hour, then repaint if needed.

I usually let the paint dry over night. Cut a beak out of the yellow felt sheet and a wattle out of the red with scissors. Set aside. Glue the wiggly eyes onto the face of the pin. Glue the wattle first onto the beak and then glue the entire piece onto the face of the pin.

Separate bright turkey feathers that you can buy in bulk at www.orientaltrading.com for $4.99. Glue them into place on the back of the pin. I overlap the feathers in the back.

This makes a great Thanksgiving day gift for it is free standing.

Turkey Thanksgiving Crafts #2

Supplies Needed:
A medium to large pinecone
Small turkey feathers or foam board in bright colors
Small googly eyes
Red felt and yellow felt
Brown pom poms medium size

This thanksgiving craft idea is so easy to do. Great for classroom crafts. The first step is to cut out a wattle from the red felt and then a beak from the yellow felt. Glue wiggly eyes into place on the pom pom. The brown pom pom is the turkey's head. Then glue into place the wattle and beak.

You can either buy small turkey feathers or cut feathers out of different colored foam board. Glue the feathers to the back of the pinecone.

Turkey Thanksgiving Crafts #3

Supplies Needed:
Small styrofoam balls for heads
Larger styrofoam balls for bodies
Fat quarter in brown patterned fabric
small black buttons
glue gun (Adult should glue pieces together)
Small turkey feathers
Brown acrylic paint
Paper plate
Red and Yellow Felt
Toothpick

This thanksgiving craft idea for thanksgiving is making a turkey out of styrofoam balls with clothing. First paint the small styrofoam head with brown acrylic paint. Let dry on a paper plate for an hour. Cut out wattle and beak and glue into place on the small head of the turkey with glue gun. Also attach the eyes.

Cut the fabric quarter in half. The next step is to take the larger styrofoam ball and place that piece of fabric underneath it and bring it over the ball and glue into place on the top of the ball. This is the turkey's clothing. Glue black buttons down the front of his clothes.

Take the toothpick and poke into the bottom of the head of the turkey, and stick into the large body. Add a dape of glue before placement to help hold it in place.

Attach the feathers on the back with glue. You can also make a hat out of black foam if you wish for the turkey's head.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving
