"Thanksgiving Day"
The time draws near
The big day will soon be here
Everyone will gather together
To give thanks, for all we have this year.
There will be shopping from one store to the next
Then we'll bring all the bags home from the store
The work will begin when we walk in the door
There's lots to do to prepare the meal.
Happy Thanksgiving says the wreath on the door
Decorations go up from room to room
Everyone will be dressed in their finest clothes
The children will be laughing as they come through the door.
Little ones wait for sugar cookies
Sprinkled with colors of red and green
Papa will carve the turkey for one and all
Grandma will set the table with so much care.
Ingredients will go into the stuffing that only grandma knows
Mashed potatoes and gravy for everyone
Sweet potatoes with brown sugar, a caramel glaze
Cranberries and apples for one and all.
Corn and buttered biscuits will be on each dish
At the end of the day pumpkin pie will be served
There will be whipped cream for each one of us
We'll light the candles and sip our tea.
Papa will bring out the eggnog for a special treat
All will be well on Thanksgiving day
The checkers will come out for a game of chance
Football will be broadcast all through the day.
We will give thanks again this year.

I'm happy that we finally have electricity again! It's been over 3 days since the storm took everything out in the Northeast! If this happens at Thanksgiving, we'll be eating cold Turkey sandwiches - LOL, but we'll still be thankful just to be together. cheers ;)
