Thanksgiving Day 2011 Store Openings and Times

Roz Zurko

Thanksgiving 2011 is slowly merging into Black Friday hours as a few of the major chain stores are opening up for their sales on Thanksgiving Day, according to CNN Money.

While many of the stores started opening at midnight on Thanksgiving a few years back, some have pushed their Black Friday back even further into Thursday night, with one store opened on Thanksgiving Day, all day!

Below is the list of major retail stores open on Thanksgiving Day 2011:

Wal-Mart: November 24th opens at 10pm

Toys R Us: November 24th opens at 9pm (At participating stores)

K-Mart: November 24th opens from 6am - 9pm

Target, Best Buy, Macys and Kohls are opening on Nov: 24th at the stroke of midnight.

Check with your local store to make sure they are participating in these hours.

Now that Black Friday is meshing into Thanksgiving Thursday, will this eventually interfere with the family dinner? Traditionally stores have been closed on this holiday, except for convenience stores, now with the stores opening earlier each year, what will happen to the Thanksgiving Dinner?

It's like dangling a carrot in front of a hungry rabbit, as this economy is just right for luring people into the stores with promises of substantial savings. While only one of the big chain stores are open during the day, it can't be too far into the future where others will follow. Will the future bring Thanksgiving as the biggest shopping day of the year with pizza instead of turkey adorning the holiday table?
