Thanksgiving Dinner in Charleston, WV

Restaurants that Serve Thanksgiving Dinner so You Don't Have To

Erin Duff
If you find yourself too busy or stressed to plan a holiday dinner, consider dining out with your family and/or friends this Thanksgiving. If you are in the Charleston, West Virginia area, there are a few restaurants open that will serve either a traditional Thanksgiving dinner or something a little different if you aren't a fan of turkey and stuffing. The following restaurants will be open:

#1: Harding's Family Restaurant-Harding's is a traditional, home-style-cooking restaurant that serves a wide range of meals, and my husband and I have enjoyed their delicious food on more than one occasion. I think they have some of the best breakfast food I've ever eaten (their blueberry pancakes are homemade and mouth-watering), and my husband enjoys the dinner fare. An example of their typical dinner menu includes a roasted turkey offering, that comes with stuffing and cranberry sauce. I can only imagine what additional options they'll have for Thanksgiving dinner! This would be the location of choice if you miss the traditional Thanksgiving dinner you had as a child, and the service is excellent. The prices are reasonable as well.

Harding's opens at 6am and closes at 11pm. It is located at 2772 Pennsylvania Avenue in Charleston, WV. It is very easily accessed on Interstate 79 off of exit 1. If you need to contact Harding's, their phone number is (304) 344-5044.

#2: Cracker Barrel-Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant, but also offers a customary style Thanksgiving dinner. According to Cracker Barrel's website, they'll offer a meal that includes turkey breast, cornbread dressing topped with turkey gravy, and a sampling of the following: baked sugar-cured ham, sweet potato casserole with caramel pecan topping, cranberry relish, a choice of a vegetable and fresh biscuits or corn muffins, plus Pumpkin Pecan Streusel Pie with real whipped cream and a beverage.

Thanksgiving meals begin at 11am, and cost $8.99 per adult and $4.49 per child. This is a wonderful deal, and is a good choice for those who might not have the opportunity to make it home for the holiday but still want a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The Cracker Barrel is located at 5720 Maccorkle Ave SE in Charleston, WV. If you prefer to call and make reservations or need additional information, you can contact them at (304) 925-6004.

#3: Outback Steakhouse-If you don't like turkey and stuffing, consider going to Outback Steakhouse. They open at 4pm and close at 10pm, and offer the same menu on Thanksgiving as they do on any typical day. Want a steak and cheese fries? You're in luck! Prefer a burger and fries? Outback Steakhouse is the place to go. Seafood, pasta, and salads are also available, and the prices vary. You'll pay more at Outback than at Harding's or Cracker Barrel, but you also have different options available for your dining preferences.

Outback is located at the Charleston Town Center Mall in downtown Charleston, WV. Need directions? Search for their street address at 1062 Charleston Town Center. You can call ahead at (304) 345-0440.

There aren't many restaurants open on Thanksgiving day in the Charleston area, but those mentioned will give you the opportunity to let someone else cook for you, or give you an option for a good meal while traveling.

I'm not sure how "alternative: these Thanksgiving choices or restaurants are, but thanks for the wonderful info. I am also in WV (Martinsburg -- like 4 hrs from Charleston) and wish there were more vegetarian options in my area. *sigh*
