Thanksgiving Events in New York City 2009

Rising as a popular hub of urbanity, commerce, tourism, and fashion; the Big Apple will not be left out in terms of honoring one of the most anticipated American festivities which is Thanksgiving. Diversified people across the state unite as one customarily during the entire commemoration of "Turkey Day" in this densely populous city. According to the public announcement of the local government leader of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, the harvest festivity will kick off with Macy's annual parade - however, it would no longer use the traditional route of commencing at 77th Street passing to the Columbus Circle then into the popular and crowded Times Square and ceasing at Herald Square. This year the parade will be merrily tramping to the roads of 59th Street, 7th Avenue and 42nd Street.

This momentous countrywide affair is characterized by eye candy helium-contained gigantic animal-shaped balloons and floats. Macy's will be featuring famous animated characters in the balloons such as Mickey Mouse in a sailor outfit, the Energizer Bunny, Ronald McDonald, SpongeBob SquarePants, Horton the Elephant and Dora the Explorer. In addition to this, the floats will display Winter Wonderland in Central Park, Bountiful Harvest Cornucopia and Santa's Workshop. This totally entertaining event will tremendously seize the interests of New Yorkers as well as the tourists and vacationers. The forthcoming 83nd year parade of floats and balloons will be accompanied by a huge marching band comprising of students from various states who will be under the great supervision of Dr. Woods of the Ohio State University and Dr. Good of Auburn University. Along with the student marching band are other performance groups such as the NYPD Marching Band, Polynesian Dance Ensemble, Alvin Ailey Children's Company, Fred Hill Brief Case Drill Team and many more.

The Thanksgiving events in New York this coming November is bundled with several dining feasts from various restaurants ranging from European style to Southern cooking. Some bistros, pubs and restaurants from the Downtown, Midtown Brooklyn and Uptown areas of the "City that Never Sleeps" will remain open and will be offering sumptuous turkey dishes. Families have an option not to cook afternoon and evening meals to savor the goodness of Thanksgiving Day.

New York as a well-known city that never sleeps will be celebrating Thanksgiving eve parties as fabulous as everybody is anticipating with the lights that make the city tossing and turning. Live performances of artists and celebrity sightings will create a high energy and delightful experience.
