Thanksgiving Greetings Cards: Starting a New Tradition

Dee Jones
Thanksgiving is one of those holidays we don't often think to give greeting cards for. Christmas, birthdays, and Valentines Day are all occasions when giving greeting cards are more common and expected. But, on Thanksgiving, the thought sometimes doesn't cross our minds.

But giving Thanksgiving greeting cards is a wonderful way to show your appreciation. Whether you buy Thanksgiving greeting cards at a store (there really is a card for any occasion), or make them yourself by hand, what makes these cards so special is that they are so unexpected. After all, everyone expects to get greeting cards on their birthday. But a Thanksgiving greeting card is a truly pleasant surprise.

Here are a few people folks who might appreciate a Thanksgiving greeting card.

Thank the Chef

Who will be preparing your Thanksgiving dinner this year? The person who will be putting together your holiday feast definitely deserves a Thanksgiving greeting card.

You can put the card together yourself, or have everyone who will be present at the meal sign their names on the card to. If you choose the latter, you can present the cook with the card just as everyone sits down to eat. This will add extra cheer to the festivities.

Thanks for the Teacher

Does your child have a teacher who's gone out of their way to help them succeed and excel. If so, think about giving them a Thanksgiving greeting card.

Have your child present the card to the teacher on the last day before Thanksgiving break begins. Or you can give the card to the teacher yourself when you go to pick up your children from school.

Teachers work hard, so take every opportunity to show your appreciation.

Thanks for the Helping Hand

Is there someone who has gone out of their way to give you a helping hand when you needed it this past year? Then think about giving them a Thanksgiving greeting card.

A few months back, due to a miscommunication, I was stranded outside a shopping center just as all the stores were closing. I woman I knew only in passing offered me a ride home, saving me from having to sit there and wait for half an hour in a dark, deserted area for a someone to come and pick me up. And, for that, she is getting a Thanksgiving greeting card.

In fact, you could probably think of countless people in your life that you feel thankful for in one way or another. So why not give them all a card, and make giving Thanksgiving greeting cards a new, yearly tradition.
