Thanksgiving Hand Turkey Paper Craft

S. Morris
What would Thanksgiving day be without turkey? Every year we gather around to enjoy family, food, and crafts. It is a holiday that can help represent the turkey. Incorporating the turkey into a craft is a fun way for kids of all ages to gather around with creative minds and laughter. Starting the holiday off right, lets help our kids and family members kids to a hand paper turkey. Easy , fun, and has Thanksgiving spirit!

What you will need:

- Fall colored construction paper. ( Red, brown, yellow, and orange.)

-Non-toxic paint.(Brown and red).

-Google eyes.

- Brown pipe cleaner. (optional).

-Colorful feathers, sequins, and anything else you can find for Thanksgiving.

-Glue and scissors.

* All these products can be found in the craft section at Walmart or a local craft store.

Lets get started:

Step1: Set up your materials. Cut paper feathers with your colorful construction paper. Have plates ready with brown paint on them. Cut the pipe cleaner(if you chose this, it will be for the legs and feet of the turkeys). Spread out newspaper on the kitchen floor.

Step 2: Have each child participating write their name on their paper color of choice. Or help kids that cannot do this yet. Then have each child dip their hand in the paint that is on the plate. Now have them carefully press their hands down on the paper, fingers slightly spread apart. Let dry.

Step3: While their hand turkeys are drying, provide drinks and snacks. Such as pumpkin bread or cookies. Drinks could be eggnog or fall colored punch.

Step4: Now they can get started with the decorating fun!Have them add google eyes, feathers where their fingers are, pipe cleaner legs or painted legs, sequins, the background, etc.

Step5: Let all the pictures dry. Now everyone can enjoy all the unique hand Turkeys!

* This is a great activity to occupy kids during the Thanksgiving bustle. Also a great keepsake for parents, grandparents, etc. Festive, fun, and easy! I hope everyone will enjoy this craft with their families for years to come!

* I will be providing a picture slideshow for this craft closer to Thanksgiving!
