Brave men and women strive,
To carry out their orders
And work hard to survive.
They see the pets and children
Living in this faraway land,
They know those kids are like their own
And try to help them when they can.
They gather round for turkey
With all the trimmings too,
It's not like being at Grandma's
But, for them, this year it will do.
Heads bow down in prayer
Giving thanks for many things,
Thanksgivings in the future, and
Going back where freedom rings.
Many live in harms way all the time
But learn what they must do,
To help and protect one another
Every day - the whole day through.
We give thanks for you our loved ones
Wishing you were here with us today,
Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, me and the kids
Waiting for you to be home - to stay.
Happy Thanksgiving and God's blessing to all of you in the military.
