Beth Blue
Here is a quick and easy homemade cranberry sauce recipe. Forget that canned junk, try this fresh cranberry side dish instead. Your family will love it.

Spiced Cranberry Sauce Recipe

1 - 12 oz. package fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon orange zest, divided

Add water and sugar to medium saucepan. Bring to boil. Slowly add the cranberries, 1/2 teaspoon orange zest and the cinnamon stick. Bring to boil again. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring often. Be careful, the berries pop sometimes.
Remove from heat to cool. Remove the cinnamon stick and pour into serving dish. Chill. Garnish with remaining 1/2 teaspoon orange zest before serving.
Serves 6-8.

Remember, cranberries are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Why save them for the Thanksgiving table?
Buy bags of cranberries while they are "in season" and on sale. Just throw the whole bag in the freezer! No need to thaw before using.
