Thanksgiving Reflection

Phylis
My Thanksgiving memories,

Are filtered through a candlelight's glow,

And they caress my imagination,

With images of times long ago.

They're just one dimensional etchings,

Faded and yellowed and old,

With so many details forgotten,

Mere reflections I'm unable to hold.

Yet, I can hear happy voices and laughter,

Of those people just out of my grasp,

Though too far beyond my yearning,

They're an important part of my past.

The reflection awakens my senses,

I can feel the warmth of love's glow,

And I thank God for the memories,

Of all those people I still love so.

And I'm thankful for all those living,

Whose very life makes my life whole,

For my reflection keeps love burning,

From the candle within my soul.

How very heartfelt! It made me think of my loved ones who no longer grace my thanksgiving day table.

Phylis, this made me teary-eyed. This poem is so beautiful and true! How I still see and hear my departed loved ones and wish they could be with me again! I love this poem; it really hits home.
