Thanksgiving Thankfuls

ED Watts
In my family, before we dig into turkey and dressing, we go around the table and let everyone state something they are thankful for. These are a few of the things for which I am thankful:

1. My family. My son's smile never fails to lift me up and my spouse is as supportive as they come. I absolutely cannot imagine life without them and am thankful for each and every day I get to spend with them.

2. My health. I have had no surgeries or other health complications, save for a broken foot, this year. You never know what's going to happen, even if you take care of yourself.

3. Stable income. My spouse is the main bread earner in the family and though we've had a few scares, all is well on the job front and for that, I am thankful.

4. Home. I used to take the roof over my head for granted, until the past year when my husband's job became questionable and a friend of the family lost his job and ultimately his home. Where I used to take it for granted and at times wish for something bigger and better, I am now grateful and content.

5. Friends. My friends have been there for me through thick and thin and never fail to lend an ear.

6. The military. I am thankful for our military for protecting our country. My brother-in-law is currently serving in Afghanistan and I appreciate the sacrifices past and present soldiers have made for the rest of us.

7. The Gamecocks. I am a huge South Carolina fan and love to watch the Gamecocks play any chance I get. I am thankful for this little luxury in my life.

8. My son's pre-school. My little boy has learned so much since starting pre-school three days a week and I am glad we are able to send him there.

9. Chocolate. Okay, so I wouldn't mention this one at the dinner table, but it is something I am thankful for. This would be considered a luxury in some parts of the world and I am glad for the release from stress it gives me.

10. My relationship with the Lord. Last, but certainly not least, I am thankful for my relationship with the Lord. Without that, the rest of this would be meaningless.
