Thanksgiving Wedding - A True Reason to Be Thankful

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time of year, it brings the family together and reminds us of all that we have to be thankful for. There's so many traditions and symbolism--what a perfect time for a wedding! This is one of those times that you can use the season to create a theme for your wedding day, and decide how much or how little detail will go into that theme.

As Thanksgiving is in the midst of autumn, using colors for the season are perfect for your big day. Utilizing emerald green, orange, and a deep chocolate brown can set the tone for your wedding from the moment people open the invitation. Use these colors in your invitations, even if it's the font to create a perfect ambiance that will tell people this will be an event to remember. Whether your wedding will be held on or around Thanksgiving, setting the scene will make people feel as if they are at an elegant event.

Choosing bridesmaid dresses in the deep rich colors of the season is another excellent way to create a Thanksgiving wedding. Fall colors such as the ones mentioned above (green, orange, and brown) can create a stunning effect when your bridesmaids walk down the aisle. You can either choose one color or create a truly unique showing by having each girl wear a different color within this palette. Be sure to use these colors throughout your groomsmen attire as well or as simple accessories.

Autumn flowers such as Mums are not only pertinent to the event itself, but gorgeous. With all the colors that Mums come in these days, you can create centerpieces and flowers throughout your venue that will show this is a Thanksgiving wedding to remember. Along with the fall flowers, include elements in your centerpieces such as gourds, hay, and a cornucopia--nothing says Thanksgiving more than these specialty items.

Serving a menu that is very centered around Thanksgiving will seal the deal. While you don't have to overwhelm with Thanksgiving favorites, you can add in accents. Perhaps salad with a cranberry vinaigrette, a sweet potato puff pastry, or turkey served in an elegant way can add to your classy affair. If you are a more casual bride to be, then include some of your Thanksgiving favorites such as mashed potatoes or green bean casserole to your menu. A must have though is a sweet ending so be sure to include Thanksgiving classic desserts such as pumpkin and pecan pie.

Give away favors that will help guests to remember your special Thanksgiving wedding such as gourds for their home with your wedding day details on them, special shaped chocolates, or candles that are not only in your colors but also in autumn scents.

Planning your very own Thanksgiving wedding can be seamless with a bit of effort. Center your day around the season and then holiday, bringing to mind some of your guests favorite traditions. You will always have a special place in your heart for Thanksgiving once you have made your wedding day a part of the festivities.
