That Feeling

Chelsey Wilkerson

The clean clothes lay there. A towel hangs up waiting to absorb that dripping water that will soon be rolling off wet hair onto soft skin. The water hits the bottom of the shower with the sound of rain and flows like a small stream into the drain below as a sweaty unclean hand reaches in to turn it on and pulls the shower curtain to. And as that wa ... ter warms soiled clothes are slowly stripped off and tossed into a pile beside those fresh, clean, neat stack of clothes. A hand reaches in to check the warmth of the water, pushes the shower head to where the water is hitting the back wall from where the person is standing who soon pushes the shower curtain aside steps in and pulls the curtain back into place, but not fully submerging theirselves into that warm water just yet. Then for a split second the a sense of fear of actually getting wet washes over the person just before they turn that show head and step into that warm water that will soon flow over their body. Well maybe an arm first, then from neck down on that side soon gets splashed with water, then the other side and finally the head. A slow process like walking into a hot tub; going slow enough that you body adjusts at a reasonable rate. The water soon feels amazing and that fear of having to be wet soon washes away. The warm water flows smoothly over the body and seems to sink into the skin from the very moment the water droplets touch the skin. Soon the warm fountain of soothing warm water must stop flowing ever so freely, and as soon as the shower curtain is pushed back a cool rush of air covers the body as they grab the towel and wraps it around their body to be warm again. Then there is a quick rush to dry off and to cover up with the nice, comfy, and soft feeling clothes that are laying there.
