Coffee came to America during the Colonial period. However, it was slow to grow in popularity. It wasn't until the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, that it started to grow in popularity and demand. During the time of the Civil War, it was an everyday beverage for almost all households.
Depending, on the color of the roasted bean to the human eye, they will be labeled as light, medium light, medium dark, dark and very dark.
Darker roasts are usually smoother. They have less fiber and more of a sugar flavor. Lighter roasts have more caffeine in them. They are a bit bitter and have a stronger aroma to them. Coffee can be prepared in three ways. It can be boiled, steeped or pressured. All three are considered a way of brewing.
Coffee percolators and coffeemakers use gravity to brew coffee. Heated water is slowly run over the ground up coffee beans to make an aroma and flavor. We then take our coffee in different ways. Some add a little sugar or sweetener, some a little cream and some like it black. There are also flavors of all types that can be added to your coffee. Vanilla, is a good example of what, can be added to enhance the flavor of coffee.
Coffee has even played a major part in our social culture. Coffeehouses of yesterday, as well as a modern Starbucks, have had a major impact on society. Many major decisions have been and are still made at coffee locations across the World. It has even made major impacts in our small communities. Individuals sit down and discuss the events of the day. Many offer ideas about how to handle certain problems either directly or indirectly related to them.
Many times, people have met at coffeehouses just to socialize with each other. Coffee has played a major part in the history of the World.
Many individuals have their preference on brands. Some will continually buy the same one over and over. Others, will buy according to the best buy by price. Many individuals will drink without asking what brand it is.
As a warm drink, it can help an individual jump start their day, especially on cold days. Coffee has made a big impact on our way of life.
