That Time

Deborah Coss
For D.R.
We caught craw-dads you and me,
When we were small and free.
They made us laugh, they made us squeal!
When we had enough, we grabbed our rod and reel.
Golden summers passed so quick,
Living in the moment, that was the trick.
Trees tall and shady; were also green and cool;
Remember how the river was our swimming pool?
Floating on the calm water was mighty fine,
Today is one of those days I wish I could go back to that time…
