Thaw

Rich T. Anderson
Alpha Centauri moves across the sky

We're plying tic tac toe with the constellations

Hoping there's no cameras watching

Every laugh could be another tear

While this wind chill continues to persist

Right now everything is frozen solid

Now he's inhospitable

We have to fight to survive

The glaciers are on the move

But we hold on for the

Thaw

Playing 'she loves me, she loves me not'

I feel I haven't learned a thing since I was a teenager

Words meander exposing their etymology

And every choice is another risk

I have to kiss you to stay warm

The ice will melt

The flowers will grow

Hearts will open

When spring comes

We can laugh everyday

Right our world is frozen solid

The land is inhospitable

We have to fight to even talk

The thermometer is broken

But we wait for the

Thaw
