The 10 Best Inexpensive Father's Day Gift Ideas

10 Simple, Quick, and Easy Cheap Father's Day Gifts & Presents that Are Sure to Please

It is true that the thought counts with gifts; however, if you are searching for an inexpensive gift, then the thought put into it actually counts even more. Think about the father and/or grandfather that you are buying a Father's Day gift for so that you can make this present the most special, a perfect fit, yet not break your budget or the bank. Cheap, inexpensive, thoughtless gifts are an insult, so engage your brain and figure out which inexpensive present in this guide actually fits the type of dad you are buying for this Father's Day to make this gift giving experience fun and affordable for everyone.

1. Digital Photo Keychain - this gift is a winning present for almost all father's or grandfather's for Father's Day. These great affordable presents can be found at Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Walmart, Target, and many other online retailers. If you keep your eyes open for a sale, you can find them for $10 to $12 dollars. Recently, Walgreens ran a special on a 8mb version that holds up to 60 pictures for only $12, usually $20 for this specific Digital Photo Album with Keychain with Rechargeable Battery by Innovage Products while retail is suggested at $49.99 for the same item. Do your homework and search the sales to get the best price.

2. Home-made Card plus a $5 or $10 Gift Card for Dad's Favorite Store or Restaurant - Instead of spending $3 to $6 on a card, save that money and make a home-made card. There are tons of free templates and options available online. You can have children or grandchildren make the card. Or print one of dad's favorite pictures, sport's emblems, or hobby images on a piece of paper, fold it in half, and write Happy Father's Day on one side while affixing the gift card to the other side. Many gift cards tend to come with their own To and From on the cards, as well as some having their own minicards and envelopes for no additional cost depending on where you buy them.

3. Dad's Favorite Food with a Ribbon and Gift Tag - If you know your dad well, you will know what his favorite food or his dietary preferences are. Buy several of these items and wrap them together with a ribbon or fill a reusable bag with them (they sell cheap grocery ones for $1 to $2 at many grocery stores, Walgreens, CVS, etc.). For instance, I know three fathers that love and eat a particular brand and type of healthy cereal - if you wrapped up 4 to 8 boxes of this cereal with a ribbon, they would be very happy men. This can work well for items like cereals, cookies, popcorn, hot sauces, coffee (several flavors of their favorite brand), etc. And if you want to be very frugal, check out their favorite brand's website to see if they offer a coupon for the item, call the brand's free customer service line to see if the will mail you several coupons for your multiple purchases, and check for bogo (buy one get one free) or other specials on the specific item.

4. A Nice Tie - Ties can be found on sale in the regular stores or online at the outlet versions of the same store. You can find sets or "lots" of ties on eBay too. If you dad is a tie-wearing dad, then a tie is a good gift. If you dad is not a tie-wearing father, then this is a thoughtless gift because he won't use it.

5. Socks and Briefs - Many dads typically forget to think about themselves in pursuit of a career, providing for their families, and enjoying their hobbies, so for a lot of dads socks and briefs really are a hit with them. Several dads I asked recently said they wanted socks and briefs fo Father's Day this year. Lots of men are very functional. These same guys would probably prefer those socks and briefs packed in a brown paper bag colored by the kids or wrapped in the sports or comic section of the newspaper instead of a fancy bag. A lot of men don't like receiving gifts in $3 to $5 gift bags because they would rather have that money spend on rent, food, or electric. Yes, this really is how a lot of more logical men (and some women) think. Once again, it comes down to knowing your dad.

6. Cheese, Sausage, and Crackers - Give a nice box of large fancy crackers($2 to $4 per box is average even including organic ones available at Randall's), a large sausage, and some nice cheese which might need to be refrigerated. Once again, most dad's would rather have this put in a cheap basket - cheap meaning under $1, or placed in a recycled paper bag decorated by the kids rather than spending lots of money on presentation. The way most dad's see things is this, "Why spend $5 to $10 extra on presentation, when you could buy 1 or 2 more entire sausages to eat!" Yes, sometimes the way to the heart is through thestomach.

7. A CD of their favorite music - there are several ways to give this one. You can make a CD yourself of his top 10 to 20 hits or you can buy a new artist. For Dad's who like Blues, Jazz, or Folk Music, check out Blues Got Us whose new CD is available at www.bluesgotus.com or for dad's who like pop, rap, reggae sounds try the new CD The Power of One by Israel Houghton. If your dad needs hope due to the bleak economy, consider Hope for Today Worship which is an uplifting CD with a variety of music and musicians that most people would enjoy. Be very careful in selecting music for dads because music can be very influencing, so avoid giving your dad music that is violent, angry, perverse, depressing, or "down" because lyrics get into the memory and the heart affecting thoughts and eventually actions.

8. A Thoughtfully Selected Movie - movies are similar to music, what we watch and see through our eyes gets buried in the mind and leaks out eventurally in words and behavior. So with care, select a good movie for dad. If he likes football or sports, Facing the Giants is a great movie that most people enjoy especially those who like sports or who played on teams when younger. Other movies that might get dad thinking a little include A Case for Creation and Passion of the Christ. Another great movie choice is Fireproof, this movie is excellent and if your dad is inspired to try the experiment himself, then it might change his life forever too.

9. A Good Book - Some excellent choices for dad's include the Joyce Meyer's Brown Leather Everyday Life Bible, Joel Osteen's Your Best Life Now, Joel Osteen's Daily Readings from Your Best Life Now 90 Day Devotion, and So You Call Yourself a Man? by TD Jakes, as well as other books, CDs, DVDs, and/or tapes by Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Jimmy Evans, TD Jakes, and Kenneth Copeland. The Daily Readings from Your Best Life Now are great even for dads who don't like to read because it is broken down into very short 2 page devotions for 90 days. Joel is an easy, enjoyable, positive, and uplifting read, don't be surprised if you have a new dad by the end of the devotion. This book can be found used for a few dollars at Amazon.com or new as low as $13 at some Walmarts. Amazon.com offers used books for most books in and out of print which range from 1 penny upwards plus a flat shipping fee depending on the title. A lot of the used books are in perfect or near perfect condition for a fraction of the cost.

10. A Nice Piece of Clothing or Accessory like a belt, watch, wallet, or shoes - nice shirts, shorts, shoes, belts, wallets, and more can be found at outlet stores in your area or online. Bealls Outlet, TJ Max, Marshalls, and other stores like this usually offer name brands for less. Other stores like Old Navy are reasonable in store but also have outlets online or clearance sections online with deep discounts. eBay is a great source to find name brands at a discount, many items have the original tags and pricing because they are being picked up by eBayers from closing stores in their area. And etsy is a place to find customized items, many at very reasonable prices. Check out dad's wardrobe and see if his belt or wallet is worn out, maybe his jeans have grown snug and he could use a new pair that fits well, then search for a deal. If you purchase online, just make sure to check out the measurements. Most sellers on eBay and etsy will be happy to email you the exact measurements so that you will find the perfect fit for dad.
