Avoid over thinking and avoid making social comparison. It is when we think too much about what we do not have and start comparing with others when the problem starts.
Count your blessings. Be happy and expressing gratitude for what you have and conveying your appreciation to one or more individuals whom you have never properly thanked.
Practice acts of kindness. Do good things for others; whether, friends or strangers. It is one thing that brings joy to us from within. Do this and you will feel the difference.
Nurture Relationships. Remember no one can stay happy for long if he or she is alone. You need people to share your happiness and for that you need to build relationships, with your parents, your partners, and your friends.
Do more activities that truly engage you. Do things that will require your efforts like building something, or cooking, writing etc. and when they finish you will feel the sense of fulfillment. Most of us suffer from loneliness and we do not even know about it and it makes us sad. Doing activities that engage you keeps you busy and you forget your loneliness.
Commit to your goals. Pick one, two, or three significant goals that are meaningful to you and devoting time and effort to pursuing them. It is not only important to make goals in your life but you need to invest a lot of time on planning and implementation of these goals. It is important to know how you would achieve what you have planned.
Develop strategies for coping. Life does not stay the same every time and it is certain that you will get some rough patches and for that practice ways to endure or surmount a stress, hardship, or trauma.
Learn to forgive. This is very important. People make mistakes and sometimes you need to accept that and learn to forgive. Although, it is hard to forgive individuals who have hurt you but sometimes you need to do that. This will give you a sense of inner satisfaction.
Practice religion and spirituality. Be involved in your church, temple, or mosque, or reading spiritually-themed books. This will calm you and soothe your soul.
Take care of your body. A healthy body has a happy mind and so for that engage in physical activity and meditation. And remember to keep smiling and laughing.
