The 10 Hottest Playboy Playmates from the 1950s!

Wes Laurie
Playboy Magazine, founded by Hugh Hefner, made its' debut in 1953 with cover girl Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe is a Hollywood icon, but you won't find her on the list below because this list is reserved for Playboy Playmates. In the first issue of Playboy Marilyn Monroe was the featured girl, but she wasn't a "centerfold" and she was not given the title of "Playmate." Marilyn Monroe was "Sweetheart of the Month for the first issue of Playboy. After that first issue the centerpiece ladies were referred to as the Playmates and the rest is history. Here are my choices for the ten hottest Playboy Playmates from the 1950's! Get ready to steam up your Yahoo search engines for pictures!

10. Dolores Donlon: This blond beauty was the Playmate of the Month for the August 1957 issue of Playboy. Modeling was only one of her many talents as she also gained work as a set decorator and progressed into acting. Most of her acting roles were smaller parts in television shows, but shows with impressive names none-the-less; such as "I Love Lucy" and "Perry Mason." She has also done work under the name of Pat Van Iver with her real name given at birth being Patricia Vaniver.

9. Sandra Edwards: A dark haired looker, Sandra Edwards was the March 1957 Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine. Born in Los Angeles this leggy beauty went on to act in some movies and entered a romantic relationship with an actor named Tom Gilson. Sandra would go on to kill Tom via a shotgun blast to the chest, but was cleared of murder with his violent temper and alcohol being factors in her successful claims of self-defense.

8. Carrie Radison: Carrie Radison was a cute meets sexy redhead when she posed for Playboy as the magazine's June of 1957 Playmate of the Month. A model and actress, she went down in Playboy history as being one of the very first Bunnies at the Playboy Club.

7. Joyce Nizzari: December of 1958 was the year Joyce Nizzari was Playmate Of The Month for Playboy magazine. Her Italian descent is evident when you look at her stunning pictorials. Playboy founder Hugh Hefner thought she was hot stuff too as she is listed amongst his many dating conquests. She was successful at landing acting gigs in movies such as "A Hole In The Head" and TV shows like "The Beverly Hillbillies." In the late 90's Joyce was still under the employment of Playboy as one of Hugh Hefner's assistants at the Playboy Mansion.

6. Cindy Fuller: She was the Playmate Of The Month for the Playboy issue of May 1959. As I look at her long dark hair and coy smile in naughty pictures, one cannot help, but noticeL she sometimes as a Natalie Portman look to her.

5. Cheryl Kubert: This Playmate is a bit of a mystery woman to historians, but her beauty is very note-worthy. She was the Playmate Of The Month for the February 1958 issue of Playboy magazine. Her short reddish/ brown hair is cute, but her large, deep eyes are what really smolder. The "Playmate Book" list her as having died in 1989 via suicide. RIP: her beauty lives on.

4. Jayne Mansfield: One of the more famous women to make this list, Jayne Mansfield was a platinum blond movie starlet. She was the Playmate Of The Month in Playboy for the month of February 1955. A very collectible pinup for pop culture enthusiast, she was born under the name of Vera Jayne Palmer. Some were rude enough to consider her "the poor man's Marilyn Monroe," though not in the boobs department. She died at the age of 34 in an automobile accident.

3. Colleen Farrington: Ever wonder where sexy actress Diane Lane got her looks? Her mother Colleen Farrington! Colleen was the Playmate Of The Month for Playboy magazine in October of 1957. She also did some acting and was a nightclub singer. The ever gorgeous Diane Lane was the spawn of Colleen Farrington and acting coach Burt Lane.

2. Ellen Stratton: Ellen Stratton was the very first Playmate of The Year and with good reason: she was smoking hot! She was the Playmate Of The Month in December of 1959. She has gone on to manage rental properties in California and has been known to take part in Playboy related events.

1. Bettie Page: One of, if not THE, most iconic pinup girls of all time; known for her jet black hair and blue eyes. Bettie Page could look elegant or she could look rough, but always sexy in her versatility. She was Playmate Of The Month in January of 1955. Bettie Page has influenced all spectrums of entertainment and art, so to pin her down as having just been a model would be a mistake.
