The 10 Hottest Playboy Playmates from the 1970s!

You often here about the 1970s being an admirable age for pornography. The seductive moustaches of repair men and the allure of getting down with them to cheesy funk music on a shag carpet are considered staple pop culture images accredited to the decade. Those images aren't exactly pretty though and neither was the decline of hippie-ism and increase in violent Vietnam War protests. Playboy managed to keep finding pretty ladies though and perhaps injected some peaceful art into the mix. Tan lines were not being brushed out and the Playboy Playmates of the 1970's were baring it all with pride. Here are my picks for the Hottest Playmates of the Month from the 70's!

10. P.J. Lansing: This Midwest gal hailed from Frankford, Missouri, but one could have easily mistaken her blond looks as being from Sweeden. P.J. Lansing was the Playboy Playmate of the Month for February of 1972. One of her hottest pictures is odd in that she is doubled over, almost in the fetal position, with her trusses of blond hair splayed out. As awkward as the pose may be, she pulls it off as sexy!

9. Lenna Sjooblom: This Swedish brunette was the Playmate of the Month for the November 1972 issue of Playboy. One of the pictures from her pictorial, since dubbed "Lenna" has gained fame for its application in the field of digital image processing as a testing image.

8. Cynthia Hall: An interesting face and gorgeous body, Cynthia Hall was well deserving of Playmate of the Month honors in March of 1971. Her choice of "People I Admire" might have turned off some as she picked Richard Nixon, but with a form like hers I doubt many were actually reading the profile. She was featured in a television movie called "The Fabulous Doctor Fable."

7. Carol O'Neal: This Playboy Playmate of the Month from July of 1972 looks like she was made for acting; one of Charlie's Angels perhaps? However, her only acting gig was a bit part in the 1979 movie "When A Stranger Calls." She also looks like she could have been a hot airline stewardess and alas, she once was!

6. Dorothy Stratten: This blond Playmate of the Month for August of 1979 was also named Playmate of the Year in 1980. She was on the fast track to success with modeling and acting gigs with the full support of Hugh Hefner and Playboy backing her. However, she has gone down in history as a tragedy having been murdered by her estranged husband in a grotesque murder-suicide scenario involving sex and a shotgun. At least two movies have been made based on her death.

5. Martha Smith: A foxy blond, Martha Smith went beyond Playboy to Hollywood history having been a character in the beloved comedy "Animal House." She played the role of Babs Jansen. She was also an actress in the television show "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." Perhaps her best work though was in the field of nude modeling, posing in the stunning Playmate of the Month pictorial in July of 1973.

4. Marlene Morrow: Born as Marlene Pinkard in Montana, this model became Playboy's Playmate Of The Month in April of 1974. She has an interesting look to her throughout her Playboy pictures. She can go from the girl next door to high class seductress with the flip of a page, with some Nicole Richie meets Brittney Murphy elements to her profile.

3. Gail Stanton: Gail Stanton was the Playmate of the Month in June of 1978 for Playboy Magazine. A cute and sexy brunette, some of her pictures remind me of the character "Kelly" from "Saved By The Bell," which was played by actress Tiffani Thiessen.

2. Claire Rambeau: I'm not sure how to pronounce her last name, but reminds me of the name "Rambo," but where Rambo has the brawn Claire has the beauty. This brunette posed in Playboy with pictures that signified the hippie way of life might not have been destroyed in the 70s. But instead of the drug culture, her vibe of peace was more of a Native American style thing with her in beads and a fringed vest (breasts uncovered) and riding on a horse. Born in Santa Barbara, California, she was the Playmate of the Month for October 1971.

1. Debbie Ellison: This Playmate of the month for September 1970 stands out at the forefront of the decade and beyond to me. Her soft brown eyes seem kind and carefree and when matched with her smile you just look at her pictures and fall in love. Getting to see her naked doesn't steal away from her charm, making the pictorial all the more beautiful, but in a hot steamy way of course, because a nude girl on all fours crawling through the woods is very naughty-naughty. You can see her centerfold picture in the movie "Tremors 2: Aftershocks", though they call her by a different name and by the wrong month and year.
