Meditation, on the other hand, lets us control the flow of "chi" or energy throughout our bodies. This will allow us to renew our spirit which will lead us to be more vigourous and active in our every day lives. Therefore, it should become part of our daily routine.
Meditation takes very little time and can give you a clearer sense of the direction your life is taking. With it, you can even achieve new heights in many areas of your life. It will also teach you how to focus your energies and teach you how to concentrate.
If you're new to Meditation, here is a simple technique which will help your consciousness reach a level well beyond the realm of science.
First, find a quiet and comfortable place. Sit in whatever position makes you feel the most comfortable. In order for this to work, you must feel relaxed and be able to focus.
Close your eyes. Think of this as shutting yourself off from the world. When you close your eyes, your attention is then focused on the inner self. When the eyes are open, the act of seeing takes energy away from the act of focusing. There are aother techniques in which the eyes remain open, but they are usually less effective.
Now, try to relax. Focus on your breathing. It should be slow and even. Look at the darkness behind your eyelids. Watch that space. Now, turn your attention to the thoughts that run through your mind. See how they come into being and then vanish. With this exercise, your subconscious starts beoming more aware, more alive.
Focus on repeating what is called a "mantra". This will help to keep your mind from wandering. If you don't know a mantra, a good one is called the Sanskrit Sloka. Repeat "amaram hum madhuram hum". This means "I am immortal, I am blissful". Do this over and over again for at least 10 minutes.
When you have finished repeating the mantra and focusing your mind on the words, you may return to your other everyday activites. However, before you do, rub your hands together and place the palms on your face. This will bring warmth back to it.
I recommend doing this twice a dayy for a minimum of 10 minutes each, preferably in the morning after you awake and at night, just before going to bed. This will help you prepare for the challenges of the day in the morning and help you recharge your spirit at night.
Meditation is a never ending process. As you practice it, see how your life changes, your perception sharpens and your purpose in life becomes clearer.
