Twelve days before Christmas Eve you'll begin this series of gifts. The first gift is a dozen golf balls for your avid golfer or fishing lures for your favorite fisherman. Whatever sport or hobbies they like pick 12 of these items. You'll want to get a little gift card that says the following: "Merry Christmas (male's name)! For the next 12 days you will be receiving the number of gifts represented by how many days we are away from Christmas Eve. Today is the beginning of your holiday journey and I have chosen these 12 perfect ________as they remind me of your strength and love of the outdoors."
Eleven days before Christmas Eve send the following: Eleven candy canes tied in a ribbon of white or red. For the tag you'll want it to say "These candy canes remind me of the way you hooked me with your sweetness." If it's for a friend then change it to "These candy canes remind me of what a sweet person you are."
Ten days before send him a $10 Gift Card to Starbucks or another coffee house in your area. The gift tag should read - "Today you need to relax and take in the smells of Starbucks (or another company) on me. I suggest the Peppermint Hot Chocolate (or Latte) but the choice is yours."
Nine days before send him 9 pairs of socks. Give him a variety for hiking, dress socks, regular sport socks, etc. Put them in a sports tote for presentation. For the note you'll write "The pitter patter of tiny reindeer feet got me thinking... my honey's feet need to be toasty this winter." (If it's for a friend just take out honey and change to buddy).
Eight days before give him eight music downloads - you can buy them on ITunes or another music website and buy by the song instead of just a dollar amount. If you know songs he likes it's even more personal to buy them for him. You can do this with ringtones for his cell phone as well. Something he'd love but would probably never spend the money on himself for these extras. The tag will read "Adorn your music (or phone) tree with memories of me."
Seven days before give them seven decorated Christmas cookies. You can substitute with cupcakes if you like or other tasty treats as long as they match and are decorated appropriately. The tag should read "These tasty treats remind me of how "baked" our friendship is. Feel free to share with others but promise to indulge on at least one!"
Six days before give him a six pack of his favorite beverage (soda or beer or even waters). The tag will read "Drink in the sights and smells of the holiday and take time to celebrate!"
Five days before get him five packs of gum in a variety of flavor. If you know he needs sugar free than purchase that. I try to pick a minty flavor, bubble gum, and other fun flavor and types for variety in presentation. The tag will read "In any sticky situation I can always rely on you."
Four days before get him a small box of chocolates. Sees and Whitman's usually have the little four packs at the grocery or dime store in your area or you can purchase samplers online. The tag should read "My life is richer than a box of chocolates because you are in it."
Three days before give him three movie tickets. The tag will read: "Three Wiseman saw the star that night; these tickets will allow you a wonderful night alone AND a date night."
Two days before give him a pair of shoes or slippers. If you don't know the person as well slippers are easy because they are forgiving on the sizes. Dearfoams are a favorite and hold up really well. The tag will read "Though I've never walked in your shoes I hope this gift will remind you that I'm thankful for all you do."
One day before (actually on Christmas Eve) give him a new outfit. I would make it a little dressier than usual or something with holiday flair (like the tie). The tag should read "The children were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of you and I out on the town danced in their heads." Then if you can afford it have a limousine pick the two you up for a wonderful evening out with dinner and dancing (unless he hates that than maybe a Sports Bar). If this is for a friend then find out something they really want and make sure you get them that gift saying this: "Everyone needs to believe in Santa Claus. I heard you were especially nice this year and wanted to give you something you wouldn't get yourself. Merry Christmas!"
