The 14th Amendment Begins to Dissappear

Children of Illegal Immigrants May No Longer Become U.S. Citizens

The 14th Amendment states:
"Section. 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. "

NOT ANYMORE!

A recent news article states that a group of 92 lawmakers will force a vote to make it impossible for the US-Born children of illegal immigrants to obtain citizenship. This will be in an effort to deport those illegal immigrants back to the countries from whence they came.

God forbid you want a better life for your child. God forbid you can't afford the money for citizenship classes or afford to pay for the test.

The plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of America, reads:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

America used to stand for freedom, democracy... Slowly, however, our swine leaders are turning into the farmers they escaped from. Our rights are slowly but surely eroding away.

The sad thing is, no one will notice until it's too late. No one protests the banning of protests at soldier's funerals because what these people are screaming is so horrible. But it still infringes on a basic right. They have the right to protest. The First Amendment of the constitution gives them that right.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

But God help you if you do petition the Government. They may take away your money. After all, the monies marked for New York on behalf of the Homeland Security department have been shifted elsewhere since New York doesn't support the war.

"Obviously," our government officials think. "If New York doesn't support the war then they don't need our protection."

That money was shifted to other states like Utah, Montana, and... Surprise, surprise... Texas.

What happened to our freedoms? And why doesn't anyone care?

    Two items need to be pointed out since you misrepresented them in the article you have written.

    First off, Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states, "1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

    Let us look at that- All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. After the comma in the first sentence is a very pivotal and important word. It is AND. It means individuals born in the U.S. must be under the jurisdiction of the U.S. to be considered U.S.

    Actually the framers of both the US Constitution and the 14th Amendment had no intention to give foreigners birth right citizenship. The 14th amendment ensured that former Slaves were not denied citizenship if they were born in the United States or its territories. Whether Illegal or Legal, immigrants and their US-born children are not US citizens until the parents become US Citizens through the process of legal naturalization. If the children of foreigners born in the US or elsewhere are not granted citizenship via their parents' naturalization by the age of 18 must be naturalized in order to be legally granted citizenship.

    This is not right, if you are born in Germany, France or any other country they grant you citizenship until 18 then you have options.
