The 14th Annual Country Music Awards: the Winners and My Predictions

Karen Gros
Some of you may have read my article titled "44th Annual Country Music Awards: My Prediction of the Winners," so I decided to put together this article just to weigh my predictions side by side with the winners.-just for the fun of it!

And if you are wondering, I didn't do too bad with my picks!

The winners and my predictions of the 44th Annual Country Music awards are:

Single of the Year: "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum. I am starting out on a good foot, I got the first one right with Lady Antebellum for "Need You Now".

Song of the Year: "The House That Built Me" - Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin (Artist: Miranda Lambert). "The House That Built Me" was my choice for Song of the Year. Chalk another one up for me.

New Artist of the Year: Zac Brown Band. I had this award narrowed down to Luke Bryan and the Zac Brown Band. I went with Luke Bryan just because I felt that the Zac Brown Band wasn't really new in 2010. Strike one for me.

Vocal Group of the Year: Lady Antebellum. I got this one right with Lady Antebellum after narrowing this category down to Lady A and the Zac Brown Band. Whew!

Album of the Year: "Revolution" - Miranda Lambert (This was Miranda's first win for Album of the Year.) I got this one right with "Revolution" and Miranda Lambert. Go me!

Vocal Duo of the Year: Sugarland. (This was the group's fourth win for the Vocal Group of the Year.) I chose Sugarland for this award. This choice just seemed to make the most sense. I hope to see more of Steel Magnolia in the coming year. This duo is awesome and just needs more exposure to be a true contender for this award.

Music Video of the Year: "The House That Built Me" - Miranda Lambert. I have another winner here with Miranda Lambert and "The House That Built Me".

Male Vocalist of the Year: Blake Shelton. I had to flip a coin on this one and went with Brad Paisley. However, the other choice was Blake Shelton so I should get half credit for this one, right?

Female Vocalist of the Year: Miranda Lambert. My pick for this award was none other than Miranda Lambert!

Musical Event of the Year: Black Shelton with "Hillbilly Bone". I was wrong on this one. I chose "The House That Built Me" but it went to Blake Shelton-still a good choice. This category was a very hard one!

Entertainer of the Year: Brad Paisley. I picked either Brad Paisley or Miranda Lambert for this award. Miranda had such a good year, she was a tough contender! Honestly, I thought Miranda was going to take this award this year, just because she had so many nominations and had strong songs and album, "Revolution" nominated tonight. Brad won it and was a great choice!

Congratulations to all the winners. The 44th Annual Country Music Award show was very entertaining with performances by lots of talented artists.

Here is the final tally of the awards vs. my predictions. There were a total of 11 awards listed above and I got seven out of eleven or seven and a half if you want to count the one I had such a hard time deciding on.
