The 2008 Lollapalooza Lineup is a Blend of the Old and the New

Andrea Caruso
Lollapalooza 2008 will be taking place at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, on August 1-3, 2008. The 2008 Lollapalooza lineup looks to be an excellent combination of new artists and the classic artists you'd expect to see on tour. This year's tour also includes several fresh new artists that you may not have heard before, so you may just find your next favorite band at this year's event!

Compared to other music festivals, specifically the annual Warped Tour which is geared more to the punk and emo crowd, Lollapalooza focuses more on both the new and old faces in the alternative rock scene. This year, Lollapalooza bridges that gap a bit, including bands that have previously appeared at the Warped Tour, such as Flogging Molly, and bands that typically would fit into the Warped Tour scene, such as The Weakerthans.

Bands you'd expect to see in the 2008 Lollapalooza lineup, but who aren't participating this year include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have participated in several Lollapaloozas, and The Breeders, who could have used the event to promote Mountain Battles, their long awaited follow up to 1993's Cannonball coming out in April 2008.

Enough about artists who won't be appearing at Lollapalooza 2008! Check out these artists who will be there (this list can also be found on the official Lollapalooza 2008 website, at http://www.lollapalooza.com):
