The 2009 NCAA Softball World Series Schedule gets started on Monday June 1st, as the top two teams in women's softball do battle to decide the NCAA National Champion. After a really exciting College World Series between the best eight softball teams in the country, it is now down to two teams who will face off to decide the next national champion. The University of Florida will play host to the University of Washington in a three game tournament with the winner being decided by the first team to win two games. Washington vs. Florida could be the match-up many were hoping to see.

It looks to be a really great battle in the finals of the Women's College World Series, as the national player of the year will be pitching against the No. 1 team in the nation. Danielle Lawrie of the Washington Huskies was named the national player of the year, and will take her ace pitching style up against a very dangerous Florida Gators line-up. During the year, the University of Florida posted a 63-3 record, running their way through the SEC conference, and making it all the way to the finals on their power hitting and strong pitching. Washington finished with a 49-12 record, but hope that their ace can keep pace.

This will be the first time that Florida has ever played in the championship round of the Women's College World Series, and marks the third time that Washington has made it this far. Washington last appeared in the championship back in 1999, and comes from the Pac-10 Conference. Of note is the fact that the two teams did face once before during the 2008-2009 regular season, with Washington winning the match 1-0. It was no easy game though, as it took extra innings, with Florida pitcher Stacey Nelson coming up just short again Lawrie.

The Women's College World Series Schedule gets started on Monday night, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. Game 2 will take place at the same time on Tuesday, and should it be necessary, Game 3 will be taking place on Wednesday night. In two to three days there will be a new national champion in Women's fast-pitch softball, and the trophy will either be going home to the Pac-10 or SEC Conference. This is sure to be an exciting set of games, and every fan of softball should make sure to tune in.
