The New 2010 Alienware M15x Review

The Best Portable Out There Today, Period

I recently bought an Alienware M15x used off eBay, it has a 2.16 GHZ Intel i3 processor with 3 GB of ram and a 250 GB hard drive. The graphics card is the Nvidia 240m with 512mb of memory. Even though I own the low end model, this computer is still extremely fast. The lighted keyboard is beautiful and the computer is also extremely durable, in fact so durable it can survive falls off my bed! I actually tripped over my power cord while my M15x was on my bed and the computer fell about 3 feet directly on the screen onto a hardwood floor and didn't break. I attribute this to the extremely sturdy build of the M15x

Alienware really hit a home run with this computer, the old m15x was a piece of junk and had design flaws such as the hinges breaking and cracking. You won't have to worry about that with the new M15x, as it has an almost metal like display bezel. The screen is all very hard glass and is hard to crack, and the display is very beautiful. The keyboard is excellent as well and you can change the lighted keyboard to an array of different colors. The speakers are very loud for a laptop computer.

One thing I don't like about this computer is the track pad. It is very hard to use, but if you are a serious gamer you will probably just buy a wireless mouse. Another thing is that the M15x is very heavy and is more of a desktop computer then a laptop. I also wish this had a mag safe connector like an Apple computer so when I trip over the cord it doesn't take the whole computer with it.

Playing games with this computer is awesome. Rome Total War looks great on the highest settings and Command & Conquer 4 looks great, but I can only play it on medium settings. Those are the only games I have played so far on this computer but they both ran smoothly and well. Using it for normal task it is very quick and runs Windows 7 like an absolute dream.

The Alienware M15x is a great computer and one of the best computers of the year for 2010, in fact I will name it my computer of the year for 2010 and I can't wait to see what Alienware has in store for 2011.
